Samalkha Group of Institutions Celebrated Engineers Day
The birthday of legendry engineer Sir
Mokshagundam Visvesrayya is celebrated as Engineers Day on 15th September every
year in India. Engineers Day was celebrated at SGI Campus on 15th September 2014
with great solemnity and show. On this occasion (Prof.) Dr. Rajesh Goel,
Director, SGI, Dr. Mrs. Puja Walia Mann, Dean FOM, all HODs, faculty members and
Engineering students were present.
The
event started with the lamp lighting for paying a vow to Goddess Saraswati. Manisha(CSE,
1st Year) hosted the event and explained
the relevance and importance of Engineers Day. 47th theme of engineering
day “Making Indian Engineering World Class” was introduced to the audience. He
presented life profile and achievements of Bharat Ratna, Sir M. Visvesrayya in
addition to stating his achievements in the field of “Binding of Water
Resources” and Economic planning in India.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel, Director SGI then
gave an excellent talk on “Role of Engineers in Nation Building” and inspired
the budding engineers. He also guided the students how to become a good
engineer i.e by transformation &discipline which are the most important keys
to success. He also motivated students for being a proud Indian and
professional of high quality in their respective fields. The presentation drew
applause from the audience.
Three events were organized- the
first was Collage Making, second Quiz & third was Presentation competition. Firstly, Quiz competition was started with
the announcement of panel of judges. There were three rounds in total such as
Questionnaire round, Face recognition round and Rapid fire round. Total six
teams were shortlisted after a written test held on 12th September
2014.
Team A including Devesh(CSE, 1st
Year), Amit (CSE, 1st Year), Abhishek (ECE, 1st Year) was
the winner of the competition. Rehana Mandal (Civil, 1st Year) won
first prize for presentation. Team B including Vipul (ECE, 1st
Year), Kamal (ECE, 1st Year), Aman(Aero, 1st Year) was
the winner who made collage on ‘The Latest Technologies in Field of Engineering’.
Avinash (ECE, 7th Sem), Devesh Aggarwal (CSE, 1st Year),
Gyanesh (ECE, 1st Year), Rehana Mandal (Civil, 1st Year)
etc gave presentation on the theme ‘How to Make Indian Engineering World
Class’. Prizes were distributed to the winners at the end of the event. The
whole event was coordinated by Dr. Shyam Singh Saini (AP, ASH), Ms. Anupam Mann
(AP, ASH) and student coordinators under the guidance of Dr Praveen Bhatt (HOD,
ASH).
