One
Day Workshop on CATIA Organized at SGI
A workshop on CATIA was organized by
Mechanical Engineering Department at Samalkha Group of Institutions on 17th
September 2014. This workshop was organized by Mr. Sunil Kumar (HOD, ME and ME
(Auto)) and Mr. Dinesh Jain (AP, ME). SGI students Ketan Garg and Dinkar Yadav also
helped in organizing the workshop. All
the Faculty members from Mechanical Department were also present at the
workshop.
It was a one day workshop in which more
than 200 students participated. This workshop centered towards the practical
aspects of Engineering. The key Speakers were Mr. Vineet Mehta (Sr. Mechanical
Expert) and Mr. Gourav Dwivedi (CETPA InfoTech pvt. Ltd., Noida)
The
contents of the workshop were the basic concept of designing and how to use
CATIA software.
The
speaker told that design is a roadmap or a strategic approach for someone
to achieve a unique expectation. Designing is a long process which starts from
the recognition of need. It defines the specifications, plans, parameters,
costs, activities, processes and how and what to do within legal, political,
social, environmental, safety and economic constraints in achieving that
objective.
CATIA
goes far beyond traditional 3D CAD
software tools to offer a unique Digital Product
Experience, based on the 3D experience platform.
Sustainable development is driving companies around the globe to create a
constant stream of innovative and inspiring smart products. Engineering, Design, Systems Architecture and Systems Engineering of these
products becomes more demanding.
CATIA
enables the creation of 3D parts, from 3D sketches, sheet metal, composites, and molded, forged
or tooling parts up to the definition of mechanical assemblies. The software
provides advanced technologies for mechanical surfacing. It provides tools to
complete product definition, including functional tolerances as well as kinematics definition.
CATIA provides a wide range of applications for tooling design, for both generic tooling and
mold & die.
CATIA
offers a solution to shape design, styling, surfacing workflow and
visualization to create, modify, and validate complex innovative shapes from
industrial design to Class-A surfacing with
the ICEM surfacing technologies. It also supports multiple stages of product
design whether started from scratch or from 2D sketches. CATIA is able to read
and produce STEP
format files for reverse engineering and surface
reuse. Students learned about the basic concept of designing and to design the
machine parts in CATIA.
All the participants
found this workshop very much useful and beneficial. All the participants were
awarded with certificates by (Prof.) Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director SGI.
