Fresher’s Party for New Comers of CSE Department

Fresher Party of CSE Department was organized for welcoming new comers by their seniors in Samalkha Group of Institutions on 20^th September 2014. This is a custom in SGI to make new comers feel at home & get familiar with the new environment of college. Fresher’s Day Party named as “Fiesta Ma Fresca” manifested Fun, Frolic and Smiles and also marked the start of the new bonds. The senior batch students whole heartedly extended a warm welcome to their junior counterparts. The day began with lighting of the lamp and garlanding the statue of Goddess Saraswati by (Prof.) Dr. Rajesh Goel along with all HOD’s of other departments. Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director SGI graced the event with his golden words and welcomed the new students to our esteemed organization. The event was aimed at introducing students and making them aware about campus environment and their senior mates.

The whole show was hosted by Nikhil, Ravikant and Shivangi. The main curtains of the event were Ramp walk, Dance performance by Sarabjeet & Kunal, song by Vaishnavi, Ravikant, Aman, Amit Mourya, Shivam and Abhinav. A splendid Punjabi performance by Sarabjeet and  Kunal           helped to set the stage on fire.

Games such as thread and needle, tieing the scarf and Golgappa game performed by fresher students and enjoyed very much. Judges selected Aman as Mr. Fresher and Shalini as Miss Fresher and Kunal as Mr. Personality on the basis of their performances cum talent and were awarded with the gifts. First prize was given to Sarabjeet for dance; second prize was awarded to Vaishnavi for song and third prize to Tanam for dance. Three Consolation prizes were also given to Aman, Shivam and Amit on the basis of their performances.

Student coordinators for the programme were Shivangi, Nikhil Goswami, Ravikant, Ashvani etc. The event was fully enjoyed by everyone. With the end of the performances, the DJ stepped in to prominence and began with some extraordinary foot tapping numbers. The whole event was coordinated by Ms. Neha Pahwa (AP, CSE), Ms. Nidhi (AP, CSE) under the guidance of Mr. Amit Verma (HOD CSE).
