Industrial visit to Liberty Shoes Limited, Liberty Puram, Karnal for Management Students

Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a one day industrial visit for MBA I, BBA I & BBA III Sem students on 4^th September 2014 in a Internationally renowned shoe company- Liberty Shoes Limited at Karnal. Liberty Shoes have been fashioning footwear, for well over 50 years. It started its journey in 1954 for the style-conscious people around the globe. Liberty started its journey as a small shoe manufacturing unit in Karnal, manufacturing a humble 4 pairs a day. Today, manufacturing 50,000 pairs a day and being one of the leading manufacturers in the leather footwear industry in India, It has indeed come a long way. Now, Liberty has 400 exclusive showrooms across the length and breadth of India. It has a presence in more than 25 countries around the globe. Liberty has 4,000 strong team and is No. 2 in the footwear industry. Currently with an annual turnover exceeding INR.600 crore (U.S. $150 million), It has fashion-driven and quality-seeking customers in more than 25 countries like France, Italy and Germany. There is a worldwide distribution network of 150 distributors, 400 exclusive showrooms and more than 6000 multi-brand outlets. On behalf of Liberty Shoes limited Karnal, a warm welcome was accorded by Mr. G. S. Saini, HR Department. He interacted with students giving them a brief profile of the company; its functions in particular with respect to the production and other allied departments. He briefed the students about job expected from fresh MBA (HR/finance/marketing) pass out students in an industry and briefed them about procedure of compensation to the employees. He divided all the students in three groups and allotted one company expert with every group of the students. The Expert helped the students for understanding the manufacturing process. The students were taken around the plant and explained the manufacturing of different articles of shoes.

Faculty of Management Department accompanied the students during the visit. Dr. Puja Waalia Maan, Dean, Faculty of Management, Samalkha Group of Institutions also accompanied to students and said, industrial visit is grooming the overall personalities of the students so that they will be able to do any task in the organization. This type of Industrial Visit is very beneficial to student from which students get to learn about many practical things.
